Well you will never guess after all the worry of growing 2 heads when hitting 40 guess what nothing happened LOL, we had a few lovely days away in Oxford its such a lovely place with the mix of new and old we visited a few museums one being the Ashmolean museum here's a few pics aint that little piggie pot the cutest and i would love to have that mask. It's amazing how all this stuff has survived after many hundreds of years don't you think. I took loads of pics but i wont bore you with them all.

We also visited Bicester shopping village its one of those designer outlet places where you get things cheaper talk about ££££££££ being spent. how the other half live, mind you my lovely son bought me a hand bag from the Radley shop bless im soooooooooooo chuffed he went and qued up to buy it for me not cool for a 14 yr old boy to be in a ladies handbag shop LOL im gonna treasure it for ever.

Been busy making a few bracelets for peeps so that's something, hoping to get back into arty crafty bloggie stuff soon have a good weekend .everyone

well D day is nearly here i will be hitting the big 40 tomorrow, I have been dreading hitting 40 i dont know why they say life Begins at 40 Yeah right show me the proof LOL, i don't know if I'm expecting to grow another head over night or what just been dreading it, moving on from dwelling about growing extra body parts and fear and dread LOL

MY lovely Hubbie bought me a new soldering iron and also a gas soldering iron plus some silver solder for my Birthday but i got those a few weeks ago, my sister and her hubby have brought me a new dremel with a drill press and flex shaft woohoo cant wait to get stuck into that.

The ebay auction went ok i sold 2 out of the 4 painting that i listed so that was Excellent thanks to everyone who commented and emailed about selling and giving me the push to have ago.

Been busy making some bracelet's and bits and bobs will post them soon if family don't keep pinching them LOL before i get to take a pic.

I know its only Thursday but have a good weekend everyone ..

COPPER BRACELET

Made this the other day kinda pleased with how it turned out fits nicely on my wrist just need to practice on getting everything the same mind you that's the beauty of something that's hand made its not all the same like it would be if it was churned out on a machine so everything is unique.

I really love the look of copper and its very in at the moment going to have a go and make it in silver to and maybe a matching necklace and earrings or do a combination of the copper and silver together that looks really cool.

Nope I'm not kidding you, I have, I really have gone and listed some of my paintings on ebay after yesterday i thought what the hell what is there to loose can always give peeps there money back if there not happy with what they have bought cant I, so I went and done it, I'm panicking over it mind and GUESS WHAT I have a BID on one of them YIKES so keep ya fingers crossed for me .

OK so i didn't do what i said i was gonna do, I downloaded Turbo Lister from ebay to list my items for sale and bottled out fear hit me big time what if it goes wrong what if they hate what they have bought i just couldn't do it.

so in a moment of madness i opened an Etsy store i thought maybe no one would see me lol so could get used to the idea of listing things for sale so there you have it I'm on Etsy I hope I worked out the currency right i ? will be listing more on there today, I'm going to give it the urm 3 months and see how it goes then try ebay or should i just go to ebay Yikes im still in a pickle over all this.............................. Etsy, ebay, Artfire yikes yikes yikes

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone how answered the previous post.

I think i will set up a shop on ebay as I'm familiar with ebay, have only bought from ETSY the once and seeing as that place is full of amazing stuff i would have a right fight on my hands to sell anything before i even got tarted LOL.

Will see how things go i might just end up saying this is for sale if your interested , but saying that i now know some people might not like to buy personally and buying from ebay or where ever gives you that bit of privacy if you know what i mean. I'll let you know when i have the shop up and running Thanks again to you all

I NEED YOUR HELP WHAT DO YOU THINK HONESTLY

Ok this is why i need your help and anvice, I have been thinking about selling some of the things i make, well thats not entirley true my son and hubbie say i should as they know i enjoy my Art and Craft making and they say if i sell a few bits the money will help keep me in supplies which is true and i can keep doing what i love.

So here's the thing i want you to be honest about this im a big girl i cant handle it are the thing i make worth selling im soooooooooooo not sure they are WHAT DO YOU THINK BE HONEST, im not confident about it also if i did where should i sell them ETSY OR ARTFIRE which is best? i know many of you have these shops so i would be grateful if you could tell me what you think of them.
I'm not going to be charging (that's if i do sell ) big prices just enough to cover the cost of supplies and time is this how i should work out prices or is there other things to think about.

I just don't know what to do please offer me some advice leave a comment or email me if you prefer email addy is in the side bar.

As I'm writing this I'm thinking am i doing the right thing asking for honest opinions LOL i think so that's the only way I'm gonna get this sorted one way or another ain't it fingers crossed

soldered pendent #2

This is my 2nd attempt at soldering a pendent i used a flat tip on the soldering iron which made it much easier as you can really load the solder on. I used some more of my own cut up Art work on the pendent which i glued on the the back with glossy accents and the pendent its self is a large glass pebble.

After i finished the soldering i used a metal file on the edges its brought it up to a nice shine making it look more metal that solder if you know what i meen , so all in all im pleased with how this one turned out.

This is a soldered book mark i made the glass pebble on top is made the same way as i made the pendent . The image is from Crafty Individuals i glued the image on the back with Rangers glossy accents, when dry i put copper foil tape round the egdes and on the back and soldered it, once the pebble was complete i soldered it on to a huge paper clip, and it works a treat.

Im pleased with how it turned out now im going to have to find some more of those huge paper clips this clip was in a christmas gift i receieved a couple of years ago from an on line friend and i hung on to thinking it will come in handy and it sure did.

wire and bead necklace

This is my first attempt at a necklace i used a crochet hook and basically did chains with a 26 gauge wire adding the beads as i went along (I threaded the beads on the wire before i started).

when i started i had full intentions of making each loop even and pretty but as i did the first few loops i didn't like the nice neat look, that's a total lie in fact i couldn't get the tension right LOL but i do actually like the uneven look so just did small loops big loops and went from there.

I made 2 strands with 15 beads on each strand when they were done i simply twisted them together and added a clasp and that's it, i also made a bracelet to match but i need to get a clasp for it, its the same as the bracelet but shorter still with 15 beads on each strand.

The beads look a bit squiffy in the pic i will have to straighten them up

Its not perfect by any means but looks ok on so that's a good start LOL.

CLAY PENDENT

I made this clay pendent using air dry clay, studio texture makers mat (spring morning)

red acrylic paint, studio antiquing medium, gold gilt cream.
I will varnish it at some point to make it harder but it should be ok as is.

This is another flower painting (other painting here) except this one has been done on

a 12"x 12" boxed canvas, same mediums as befor acrylic paint, and charcoal.

SOLDERED PENDENT

This was my first attempt at soldering its a bit dodge but okish i need more practice them soldering irons are hot you know and very scary LOL.

I used a large oval glass pebble you know the kind that you can buy to put in vases, I glued my own art work to the back using glossy assents, wrapped copper tape around the edge and then added the solder, when done i added some felt to the back.

I kinda like the look of it except for the soldering i found it hard to get it smoothed out by the time I got half way round i ran out of solder so had to start from where i left off and that's where it goes wrong. so if any of you have any HINTS and TIPS about soldering i would be really greatful for your help.

I used the Black and Decker craft tool which has soldering tips knife etc, and the solder goes on the tip of the tool i have just bought a new soldering iron and this is so different the solder beads and you have to get it to drop off before you can smooth it, oh and this ones way hot burnt myself twice and i only used it for a couple of minutes to try it LOL.

The Tag Tuesday challenge this week is Ticket.

As soon as i read the word Ticket the Beatles song Ticket to ride (I think thats the title of it )popped into my head so here's my tag ... She's got a ticket to ride and she don't care LOL.

Another experiment for this one i used a canvas, builders caulk and stamps and found objects as in bottle tops etc.

I covered the canvas in caulk sprayed the stamps with water its better to do this as they get stuck in the caulk other wise, (that's the first mistake i made LOL )

where was i oh yeah i pressed stamps in to the caulk, did this all over randomly when the caulk was dry i swooshed paint all over and wiped some back did this in layers dried the first and then added a couple more colours, it ended up quite dark with almost an old metal feel to it. might add a few coats of light paint to it or play some more with it I'm not sure.

Again a rubbish photo one day i will make some thing that i can photograph properly

The Altered Element shop

I have just discovered this fantastic shop and thought i had better let you all in on my big discovery, Its called the Altered element, you can find it HERE it sells pretty much everything and also everything i didn't know existed and have now got to have. (I think its made my mojo open one eye and take a peep and think about returning that's how good it is)

I placed a small order yesterday i think i could easily spend hundreds in this shop nah probably thousands LOL there's just so much interesting stuff in there it caters for mixed media, altered art , creative textiles, stamping, collage,and loads of other stuff.

I bet I'm actually the last person on earth to know about this shop go on tell me you have known about it for ages go on say it lol.

I cant wait for my order to arrive there's a few things in there that i haven't played with before and I'm itching to see what they do and how they work.

SEA GLASS Experiment

I was looking in my tin of collected sea glass and thought i must do something with it, any way i had a play and come up with this kinda reminds me of the Mediterranean and alfresco dining lol i can dream.

I used MDF board which is approx 18"x 11" some filler from a tube, sea glass and acrylic paint.

I cant seem to get a decent photo though the colours are much better in real life

Tag Tuesday challenge # 48

The Tag Tuesday challenge this week is to recycle, repurpose or reuse something in your tag. You can create the tag from a recycled package as I did or simply make an embellishment for your tag from something that's repurposed.

For my tag this week i went for a vintage style, I used a paper bag for the background that i kept because it was begging to be used at some point for something (the images are printed on the paper bag), the Handel at the bottom is from an old jewellery box which i screwed in to the chip tag, the knob at the top of the tag is also from an old jewellery box.
The believe sign was in my stash so i twisted some wire through i and fixed it to the knob and just inked the edges of the tag
I hope this fits in with Louise's challenge

I have only had time to have a flick through it did only arrive yesterday , but its full of eye candy and there also a 12 week project section. which I'm so looking forward to doing my mojo has been lacking big time its not that i don't want to create but there just don't seem to be anything there if you know what i mean the intentions there but the ideas ain't so I'm hoping this book will give my creative mojo a big kick up the bum.

I used Bird grit for the texture and acrylic paint, its not quite finished yet I'm trying to get hold of some resin which i want to pore over the top to hopeful give it a glass like finish i'd like it to be about 1/2 in think, but we'll see i will probably muck about with it some more and it will end up completely different.

This is Zuzu the Africian lady made form paverpol shes made the same as the others, (wire armature, cloth and fibres) , i dipped fibres in the paverpol to make her basket, and painted her nice and bright.

I think he looks quite dashing standing in the lavender plant LOL again i painted him for a bronzed look .

Paverpol Garden statues meet Emmie

Last year i made some statues made with paverpol ( A textile hardener ) these can be put in the Garden as the paverpol makes them frost & weather proof.

You start by making a wire armature (I used Garden wire) cover that with tin foil to bulk it up then wrap masking or florist tape around it.Then you cut fabric in to strips (i used an old black cotton T-shirt) dip the strips in the paverpol and wrap the strips of cloth around the armature to make the body, then you basically drape and layer the material on top to make the clothes.

Crafting with Julie

Today i went to Julies and we made cards, we haven't crafted together for such a long time like years.

It made such a lovely change I cant believe I made wait for it 3 cards, I have to be honest I haven't made a card in ages and they arnt my fave things to do as I just get in a big flap when i do them LOL.
But i enjoyed having some one to craft with, made a lovely change, plus i used all Julie's stash and didn't have to clean up the mess after. THANKS JULIE FOR A LOVELY DAY.

Been to B&Q

Hubbie and I went to B&Q yesterday and I bought a large piece of MDF, which hubbie cut into 6x6 pieces and 2 18x12 pieces for me, I want to try and paint on something different well different for me that is . I have seen lots of peoples work on boards and wood and its turned out fab so fingers crossed.

But first I will have to give the edges a sand over and then paint the edges back and give the fronts a few coats of Gesso first .

How long has it been since I bloged? been on the missing list in blog land for aaaaages, well I have a little bit of time on my hands so I though I would show you my latest painting it's a 16x20 canvas I used acrylic paint and charcoal for this one.

There's lots of layers to the background which I started without thinking what I was going to have as an image (eek) this made it really hard to decide what to add but in the end I went for flowers. Lillies are my favourite flower there's so many different types and there all so beautiful.

As you can see my drawing skills are still lacking the Lilly's are a bit iffy LOL but i tried and that's the main thing aint it i:-)

This might sound a bit weird but i had to paint this, I was watching the TV in bed with the light off and I caught a glimps of the tv in the door and Iwas hit with lots of colours and vague images on the door this image was stuck in my head all night. see I told you it sounded weird.

I used Acrylic paint and charcoal for this one im hoping to do more of these T.V refelection inspired paintings oh that sounds posh dont it tv reflection paintings LOL. so inspiration is everywhere even in the most unexpected places,

Cocoons

I have been playing at making a cocoon these are great fun to make i used a metal coat hanger for my center rod and old clothes to wrap around the rod to form the cocoon, in the first few layers i used string to hold my material in place and on the outer layers i used beads and wire.

This is the cocoon when i had finished wrapping the rod with cloth string wire and beads

These photos are of the cocoon after i set the heat gun on it to melt the material (if your going to try this do it out side) after you have heated the material it melts and goes hard ready for painting.

My finished cocoon is now hanging in the corner of my craft room i don't suppose this would be everyone's idea of fun, but it is mine LOL i really enjoyed making it as its something a little different.

Last Arty Girlz challenge ~ Stamping

This will be the last challenge on Arty Girlz for the time being, we have both LOVED setting the challenges on Tuesday's but at the moment we are very busy with real life so Julie and I decided to call it a day.

This is mine its a work in progress i started this about 2 weeks ago, I have never actually painted an image before i usually cut them out and glue them where i want them LOL so its a big thing for me to have actually painted it all,

I used molding paste for the texture and acrylic paint .. i have the basic structure down now i want to start adding some different elements to it like tissue paper tetro seal and also get the oil pastel's out and maybe some more layers ? I'm not sure where I'm actually going with it so I'm hoping it will get finished eventually.

The challenge for this week over Arty Girlz challenge blog is to use a red & white colour combo

I made a card which i'm not keen on at all it is red and white but looks pink in the pic oh hum it is very red honest .....

I'll tell you why i dont like it my craft stuff is in the shed at the bottom of the garden and its been freezing down there even with the heater on so i threw the card together so i could come back in the warm so rushed is the word for it . LOL

I used red and white paint for my background applied with a roller cut and glued it to the card. painted my letters white and sanded them and added red text with a stamp. i sprinkled red glitter glue over the background the glued the letter's in place

I was thrilled to bits when Jennie asked if i wanted to Guest Designer on the Object D'Art challenge blog,

From the list Jennie gave i choose to do the Altered book. This is what i came up with nothing like i first intended but that's always seems to be how it goes for me LOL.

This is what i did to alter the book its quite long winded so you may need to go make a cuppa first and get some bickies if your going to read it. oh and may be sit in a comfy chair LOL

I got my book from a sale at the Library for 50p can't grumble at that can you.

Firstly I found an old photo frame and used the glass as a template to cut the front of the book out, then i covered the front of the book with Golden molding paste, to this i added crushed egg shells and let it dry.when dry i used red yellow and gold acrylic paints on the cover over the shells and also on the back of the book.

when it was dry i covered the whole front of the book with a mixture of Tetrolseal car paint (its the black tarie stuff you use on the underneath of cars to stop it rusting) and turps then used a rag to wipe it back to the paint, it gives a lovely rich colour and depth to the texture. (you can also use a cotton bud with some turps on to wipe some of the paint back on random bits of the shells for more effect if you like) oh and don't panic when you see your work has turned black LOL it will be ok .

I used the card that was in the old frame to create my picture i used the same colours for the background as the book then cut out the image and glued it in place, i used a water colour crayon in black and smudged it around the image and edges I also did that around the cut opening. I then glued the picture to the front page of the book, then glued the glass in to the opening that was cut out previously just ran glue around the edge.

I used an old earring for a charm,(just made a hole and used wire) and glued the charm words around the book and added an ivy rub on. Then i screwed 4 screws in to each corner which kind of binds the first inch or so of the book together.
on the inside of the book i covered the first pages with paint ready for when i use the book as a journal to keep techniques in the first is going to be how i made the book.

I have just heard the very sad news that Beverley Todd passed away on 24th December.

Beverley was our guest designer for the ongoing Arty Girlz recycling challenge and also a sponsor , she was a very talented lady and will be sadly missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this very sad time.

The Arty Girlz challenge this week will run for 2 weeks so you have until the 6th of January to post your creation ~ that is when we will be starting the new year off with a new challenge.

charity shop find

I was walking past the charity shop in town yesterday and happened to glance in one of there bins out side and look what i found a bag with rubber stamps a new bottle of pva and glitter.

The first 2 stamps have not been used the first one is an all night media one and the second is an anna griffin one which i love and all the others are in really good condition.

Now heres the best bit they were wait for it ................................... £1.50 for the lot what a bargin.

The challenge we have set this week on Arty Girlz challenge blog is small Art.

so it could be an atc, an inchie, alter a domino, a topper for a card...anything goes as long as the size is no bigger than an atc (3.5" x 2.5")

Here's what i made its kind of a Folkart hangie type thing it looks a bit dark in the pic but its not as dark as it looks.

I glued 4 Jenga blocks together (the cheapo ones )its a bit smaller than an atc in size.

The challenge this week over on Arty Girlz challenge blog is frames
As usual the interpretation of the theme is down to you so maybe you'll decide to alter a frame, use a frame around a photo on a scrapbook layout, get some wood, hammer and nails and make a frame.......the choice as always is yours.

My mixed media creation was done on a 6x6 canvas and i used a 12x12 designer paper from paper mania's nostalgia warm colossal pack to make my frame and leaving the rose's in as part of it, the indian girl image is from suzan the colours were a bit pale so i used oil pastles over the image to brighten it up i also used them on top of the paint and paper all over.

The picture is rubbish i just couldnt get a decent picture.

This weeks challenge over on Arty Girlz is to use your YOUR favourite colour/s on your creation. As always its up to you what style of art work you create as Julie and I hope to encourage all types of crofter's and artists to join in with our challenges. so pop on over there and have a go and join in .

This is mine its an 8x8 canvas board. My favourite colours are purple's and lilac's going in to blues. I used acrylic paint for the background I found an image of wing's on the Internet a while back and traced them on to acetate and cut them out to make a stencil. I had the heart negative already. I used purple acrylic paint over the stencils then used gel pen in black to add depth to the heart and wings. oh and a bit of Gesso here and there

It's not finished yet not sure what I'm gonna do but it just don't feel finished if you know what i mean.

I really do love hearts with wings and would love a Tattoo with a winged heart but we'll see ;-)

The picture isn't doing the colours any justice at all the heart and wings are a lovely deep purple colour but look blueish in the pic.

Inchie set Awfully Big Art Adventure

This weeks challenge over at Awfully Big Art Adventure is inches or a set of pop on over there for more info.

I made a set of inches on a 4x4 canvas.

I used Burnt sienna, Titanium white, and cerulean blue with a hint of gold i used a brayer to apply the colour to my canvas and used a heat gun to dry and also to blister the paint for texture.

Then i used the same colours on card stock used the brayer again to apply the colour when dry i cut out my inches and used see D's morsel stamps to stamp my images. I glued the inches to the canvas when everything was dry i gave it a coat of beeswax.

Blog inspiration

The challenge this week over on Arty Girlz is blog inspiration, my inspiration came from Linda's Blog. Linda makes the most amazing creations on her blog and she has been making little works of Art On wooden blocks so this is my inspiration to create something on wood.

But i had a problem i didn't have any wood LOL so i had to improvise i did have these

some Jenga blocks so i glued 4 together and made this

I collages the block with papers that had ladies, tea pots , tea cups and writing on it. used different colours of paint over the top and rubbed some off to reveal a little bit of the images underneath then added the black and white image and went round the edge with a soft white pencil and a charcoal pencil to blend the image in. since i took the picture i have given it a coat of beeswax to finish it off . Linda has kindly added this to the Awfullly big art adventure blog as there theme last week was chunky block's

Arty Girlz weekly challenge # 58 Fabric

The Arty Girlz challenge this week is to use fabric on your creations this does include felt, it could be something as simple as a little fabric flower or a whole quilt.

I love Caludine Hellmuths work its so fun and whimsical, and reminds me of when my son was small and we used to sit and watch a cartoons together one was called Angela Anaconda amongst others and her work so reminds me of the happy days of sitting and watching t.v with my son.

Any way here's mine it's kind of a poppet doll of my Aunt Rosie claudine Hellmuth style

I painted a 4x4 canvas yellow and added blue circles made by dipping bottle tops in to the paint and stamping them. For Aunt Rosie i printed a pic of her cut it across the shoulders glued it to water colour paper then tore a piece of text paper from a book and glued that from the shoulders down, when dry i cut it out painted it with a blue wash when dry you draw in the dress detail with a black pen. i gave her some yellow buttons then glued her to the canvas, my fabric element is the heart , i cut a heart shape out from blue fabric did some yellow stitching around the edge and glued it to the canvas.

Recycled hard back book,

on Auntys forum (link on the side bar) this months challenge is recycling so i have recycled an old hard back book that was being thrown away. The covers from hard back books the kind that have the dust covers and feel like canvas not the laminated kind is what i have used and they make great surfaces to paint on i use a lot of canvas boards and this is a great cheap way of using the same kinda thing and you can use the pages as well. (you can pick up cheap books in charity/thrift shops and car boot sales.)

Any way here's what I did I cut the covers from the book I just use the front one for these 2 pictures. I painted the cover with gesso to prime it you may not even need to do this but I slap gesso on everything LOL so i used it. then I painted the cover with blue acrylic paints when dry I stuck some torn pages from the book onto the board and gave them a wash of blue. I cut the board in 2 and used one half for the first picture which I glued the images to then just used a bottle cap to make the circles just dipped it in paint.

for the second one I did or should I say I tried to do a charcoal drawing of a face over the top of the background she looks a bit weird but i sort of like her shes a bit like me not perfect and a bit weird

Gothic Arches challenge

The challenge this week on Gothic Arches is to use a patch work technique by kelly Rea Roberts.

I have just read kelly Rea Roberts book Taking flight and the technique is in there i hope i have got it right. yes i know i have used my fav image again LOL im so drawn to her.

you basically collage patterned paper patch work style onto the background of your work paint over the top and remove areas to reveal the pattern underneath. you can also add images and do the same to them as in the bird at the bottom.

The challenge for this week on Arty Girlz is to use the colour combo blue and orange.

I made a mixed media piece on a canvas board.

I painted the background blue added text from an old book which i painted orange and tore around the edges to this i added the image of BOB. then with the left over pieces of text i added that to the bottom. stamped the word Paris and Eiffel tower (stamps are from katzel krafts) when everything was stuck into place I used and old credit card dripped in white paint to make the white lines then painted a piece of bubble wrap white and pressed that into the surface. lastly I melted a blue waxed crayon and dripped spots randomly all over. Its a bit different and random just like me LOL.

A4 Mixed media collage

First I dripped water colour paint from the tubes on to A4 card then used and old store card to swish the paint across the card and left it to dry, well more or less i couldnt wait and got my heat gun out and hurried the drying a bit.

I cut the lady image out from a collage sheet from http://www.aisling.net/ i love theses images and use them a lot as you may have noticed. And glued her to the card the other images were on various Cd's that i have bought from eBay i and printed and cut them out and glued them to the card also. stamped some words in black staz on, then used a brush and gesso around the images and smudged it in to blend the images into the back ground rather than them looking like there plonked on top.

This weeks challenge over on Arty Girlz is the colour RED as always you can create what ever you like and interpret the theme how ever you choose.

I have made a small canvas board modern Art painting for my sons bed room actually this is going to be a set of 3 the red one is #2 of the set and the blue green one is the 1st one that i did and number 3 is a work in progress.

The boards come ready prepared i used Hard molding paste to create the textured sections, when that was dry i painted the canvases with Acrylic paint when that was dry i used silver gilding cream over the textured surfaces then glued silver washers to the textures sections.

I used flouriest wire to create hanging loops for the back by twisting and making a figure 8 so my son can hang the canvases what ever way he wants and the other end of the figure 8 acts like a spring and lets the canvas stand proud from the wall rather than tilting inwards.

They do look better in real life i just couldn't get a good pic :-(

I have just started an art journal and made an Autumn themed page I used paints in reds browns oranges yellow golds for Autumn colours and the image i over painted with greens,browns and added gold glimmer mists in her hair. stamped leaves and swirls in the back ground and used Gesso over the top. The scruffy writing reads.

Her name is Autumn, the leaves fall from the tree's and dance to the ground in her presence.

Everything changes as she walks natures path, browns,Golds, Reds, Yellows glisten in the morning sun. she will come every year to show her beauty as she walks natures path.

I really need to work on my writing I'm such a scruffy writer

Arty Girlz weekly challenge #51 Home inspiration

This weeks challenge on Arty Girlz is to take inspiration from something in your home.

So it could be the colour of the object, the pattern, the shape, anything at all.

This is my take on the challenge

I started off with this Tack box thingie or is it an old cutlery tray ? I'm sure it has a propper name but i dont know what it is LOL I found it in my dads old tool shed and thought awwwwwww I like that

I gave it a good wash the pic above is after it was washed lol minus the dead spiders dirt and cobwebs..

I painted it cream have a thing for cream at the mo, when it was dry I sanded it along the edges for that shabby chic kinda look, then I painted the red flowers by hand with acrylic paint when they were dry I stamped the flourishes with black stazon all over (the stamps are autumn leaves.) I cut some nice coloured paper to fit in the sections in different colours. That's it done my inspiration was the big red flowers on the cup that's standing on top.

so maybe you have a vase that needs jazzing up with some glass paints or a notebook that could do with a make over or maybe a photo frame? The choice is yours we can't wait to see your altered creations :)

I Altered a mirror The mirror was from Ikea and started life like this.

I covered the frame with moulding paste to give it texture (i love this stuff) while it was still wet i pushed the bottle into the paste on the right hand side to fix it in place, the bottle had bath salt in it at some point i liked the bottle so kept it.

when it was all dry i painted it with cream emulsion , when that dried i rubbed gold guilding cream all over the frame on top of the ripples.

Next i got some of the sea glass that we had collected on our travels rubbed guilding cream around the edges and hot glued it on to the bottle.

Then i rubbed some more guilding cream in to some more sea glass and tried to arrange it on the right hand side to look like a flower and stem, then hot glued the glass into place.

Here's my creation

A 4x4 canvas I covered the canvas with molding paste to get some texture going then i sprinkled play sand all over it while it as still wet cut a small picture of my son at the beach and placed it on the canvas as well.

I added tiny shell's and pebbles with some crushed shells to the canvas as well while it was still wet. cut out the words and added them to. It need some thing to use as a hanger but i haven't found the right thing yet any ideas? and maybe i will add to it but I'm not sure.

I had the card Toonz professional nuttyness cd rom. These cd roms are great fun and have lots of cute images backing papers ect. which are great for quirky fun cards for all ages.

I just printed off the images and 3d decoupaged them on the first one i used retanges as my shapes and on the second one i used scolloped circles.

Here's what i did and there,s no paper or card in sight. When i was a way last week i went to a great shop in sittingbourne and in the haberdashery dept they had a basket with crafters material remnants for 99p a bag so i picked up 2 lots. This was made from one of them.

I cut a piece of the canvas material to fit a piece of mount board. then used my sizzix to cut out a large flower and 2 small ones and layered them up and used a bead in the center.

The leaf was cut out from the pattern in the material. I did an image transfer on to cotton of Audrey Hepburn and layered that on to more of the brown silk material, folded the corner and added a bead. cut another piece of the canvas frayed the edges and layered the image on to that.

Rolled another piece of the material and stitched it to hold the roll then sewed the trim (also in the bag) to the back of that .

Assembled everything and stitched into place. added wadding to the back then put it on to the mount board. I used a piece of velvet brown thong for a hanging loop.

Its a very touchy feelie piece and i wanted to keep the frayed edges on everything to add to the effect.
The photo is a bit rubbish as it was dark when i took the pic its much better in real life honest LOL

I'm the Guest designer for This Thursday it's all about ...... this week.
The theme is to use ribbons and bows.

I was sent ribbons to play with which were sent by Ribbon Oasis , go check out the challenge to see the fab prize they are offering

This is what i made .

This is a notice board made using an old picture frame, i painted it purple, added patterned paper to the center then pinned chicken wire to the front added flowers and ribbon to the edge's put 3 brss hooks on the bottom and tied a long length of ribbon round them, and used mini pegs to hold my memo cards in place.

For this card i layered purple and lilac card stock stamped the image in lilac added little jems to the flower centers. Threaded the ribbon through the ribbon slide which i also received and attached it to the bottom of the card.

For this card i glued 3 blossoms to the card blank cut out 3 flower pots and trimed so me ribbon to trim the tops. Then added a piece of ribbon along the bottom for the pots to sit on, drew faux stitches for the flower stems and around th edge of the card. added jems to the flower centers and put a rubon sentiment on the 3rd pot.
